WAL Full Node is a core component of the Walchain blockchain network, responsible for maintaining security, decentralization, and transaction validation for the SuperWAL platform. 1. What is a WAL Full Node?
1.1. Role of a Validator Full Node
A Validator Full Node on Walchain undertakes the following key responsibilities:
Transaction Validation: Verifies the legitimacy of transactions and records them on the blockchain using SCP and ZK-Rollup.
Network Security: Prevents fraud, cyberattacks, and unauthorized transactions.
Consensus Participation: Contributes to SCP – a form of Federated Byzantine Agreement (FBA) – to confirm new blocks.
Support for ZK-Rollup at Layer 1: Participates in creating and verifying validity proofs for transaction batches, without requiring a separate Layer 2.
Multi-Chain Asset Bridge Integration: Ensures secure SPL Token transfers between Walchain and networks like Ethereum, BSC, and Solana via the asset bridge.
2. Requirements to Become a Validator Full Node
To operate a Validator Full Node, you must meet the following conditions:
2.1. Hardware Requirements
Minimum Specifications:
CPU: 8 cores (Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 or higher).
RAM: 32GB DDR4 or higher.
Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD (large capacity needed for long-term blockchain data).
Network Bandwidth: Minimum 1 Gbps, low latency.
Operating System: Ubuntu 20.04 or Debian 11.
Recommended Specifications:
CPU: 16 cores (Intel Xeon or AMD EPYC) for faster ZK-Rollup proof processing.
RAM: 64GB or higher.
Storage: 2TB NVMe SSD with RAID1 backup.
2.2. Financial and Staking Requirements
Minimum Stake: A stake of at least 50,000 SPL Tokens is required to become a validator.
Token Lock: SPL Tokens must remain locked throughout the operation of the Full Node to demonstrate commitment to the network.
Slashing Mechanism:
If a validator violates network rules (e.g., fraudulent validation) or goes offline for more than 24 hours, a portion of the SPL stake will be forfeited.
Offline for 3 consecutive days: Removed from the Quorum Slice and loses validator status.
2.3. Security Compliance
No complex KYC is required (due to decentralization), but validators must provide basic information for transparent community verification.
Enable 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) and use hardware wallets to secure the SPL stake.
